Product analytics with PostHog, Mixpanel & Amplitude

For apps and software products, page views aren't enough. We set up product analytics that show which features people use, where they get stuck and what keeps them coming back — and help you test changes safely.

What's included

Everything we take care of.

  • Tool choice and setup: PostHog, Mixpanel or Amplitude
  • An event plan and naming guide your developers can follow
  • User identity across web, app and devices
  • Funnel, retention cohort and feature adoption dashboards
  • Feature flags, gradual rollouts and A/B experiments
  • Session replays and in-app surveys where they help
  • Sync with your data warehouse and CRM
  • Audits and migrations from other analytics tools

Tools we work with

Platforms we know inside out.

  • PostHog
  • Mixpanel
  • Amplitude
  • BigQuery
  • HubSpot

We set up and use these tools in your own accounts. Names and logos belong to their owners.

Who this is for

Teams building apps and software: SaaS products, mobile apps, marketplaces, fintech, edtech and D2C brands with their own app. It suits teams adding analytics for the first time and teams whose events have grown messy over the years.

What good product analytics answers

  • Which steps of sign-up and onboarding lose the most people?
  • What do users who stay for months do in their first week?
  • Which features are used, by whom, and how often?
  • Did the last release make retention better or worse?
  • Which pricing page or paywall version converts better?

Choosing a tool

Tool Strong at
PostHog Analytics, session replay, feature flags, experiments and surveys in one product; cloud or self-hosted
Mixpanel Fast, flexible event analysis and funnels for product and growth teams
Amplitude Deep behavioural analysis, cohorts and journey mapping for larger teams

All three can do the basics well. We recommend one based on your product, data needs, team skills and budget — or work with the one you already have.

How we set it up

  1. Questions first. We agree the decisions analytics should support, then design the events that answer them.
  2. Event plan. A tracking plan with clear names, properties and owners — the document your developers follow, so the data stays clean as the product grows.
  3. Identity. Anonymous visitors linked to signed-up users, and one user across web, app and devices.
  4. Implementation. SDK setup with your developers, or server-side events from your backend where accuracy matters most (payments, subscriptions).
  5. Dashboards. Activation funnels, retention cohorts, feature adoption and revenue by plan.
  6. Experiments and flags. Feature flags for gradual rollouts and A/B tests with proper sample sizes and success metrics.
  7. Warehouse and CRM sync. Product data joined with billing and CRM data in your warehouse. See marketing data and attribution.

Audits and migrations

If your events are duplicated, badly named or no longer trusted, we audit the setup, clean up the taxonomy and fix identity issues. Moving tools? We map old events to the new plan and run both side by side until the numbers agree.

What you get

What changes for your brand.

01

See what users really do

Funnels and cohorts show where people drop off and what brings them back.

02

Ship with confidence

Feature flags and experiments let you test changes on a slice of users first.

03

One shared language

Product, marketing and engineering read the same events and dashboards.

How it works

Clear steps, no surprises.

  1. 01

    Discover

A free call, then an audit of your business, website, channels and numbers. You get a written plan with priorities, timelines and costs.

  2. 02

    Build

We build the website, set up WhatsApp, AI calling and tracking, create the ads and book the media — with regular check-ins and a shared project board.

  3. 03

    Launch

Forms, calls, messages, payments and ads are tested end to end, and every print or outdoor ad is checked before it goes live.

  4. 04

    Grow

Monthly campaigns, experiments and reporting, reviewed together, so the business keeps growing after launch.

FAQ

Common questions.

PostHog, Mixpanel or Amplitude — which should we use?

All three are strong. PostHog bundles analytics, session replay, feature flags and experiments, and can be self-hosted; Mixpanel and Amplitude are known for fast, deep analysis. We recommend one based on your product, team and budget.

What is product analytics?

Analytics built around what users do inside your product — sign up, finish onboarding, use a feature, invite a teammate, pay, come back. It answers questions like 'which features keep users?' and 'where do new users get stuck?', which page-view analytics can't.

Can PostHog be self-hosted?

Yes. PostHog offers a cloud version and an open-source self-hosted option. Cloud is simpler to run; self-hosting gives you full control of the data but needs your own servers and upkeep. We help you choose.

Do we still need GA4 if we use PostHog or Mixpanel?

Often yes, for marketing: GA4 connects with Google Ads and shows where visitors come from. Product analytics shows what they do after signing up. We set them up to share the same user IDs and naming.
